Speaker – Marie Scott
Partner, Fisher Phillips
Marie Scott advises employers, companies, and business leaders through corporate criminal investigations, white-collar matters, crisis situations, and other high-stakes disputes. She brings substantial leadership experience to matters that often arise unexpectedly and require navigating criminal, civil, regulatory, safety, and reputational consequences at the same time.
Marie focuses on developing creative solutions and being present with her clients from the earliest stages of an emergency. She guides decision-makers while identifying the issues that require immediate action and developing a broader strategy that considers business operations, reputational risks, stakeholder interests, and potential long-term consequences. Her comprehensive approach is particularly valuable when a fast-moving event may attract law enforcement or regulatory scrutiny.
Her experience includes internal investigations, complex civil litigation, crisis management, and workplace-safety incidents and fatalities. In these matters, Marie coordinates overlapping criminal, civil, operational, and public relations considerations so that each part of the response supports the client’s objectives.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Marie practiced at a Nashville law firm where she handled white-collar criminal defense, crisis management, complex civil matters, and internal investigations. She previously served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. She is actively involved in the Nashville legal community, currently serving as a trustee of the Nashville Bar Foundation and previously serving as the first vice president of the Nashville Bar Association and co-chair of the Nashville Bar Foundation Leadership Law program.
Before entering the legal profession, Marie worked as a neurophysiologist alongside orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons in cranial and spinal procedures, bringing an uncommon scientific background to her legal practice. She graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law and the University of Virginia in her home state.
